All holidays are the perfect time to get together with family, relax, and spend quality time together. But holidays are also one of the most dangerous days out of the entire year.

Follow these tips to have a safe 4th of July this year.

Tip #1 - Avoid traffic

4th of July weekend means there may be some really bad traffic. Try to avoid being on the road as much as possible. Leave before traffic gets bad and don't travel until the following morning on the 5th.

Tip #2 - Avoid car damage from fireworks

Don't avoid fireworks completely but make sure your car avoids fireworks. Park your car in your driveway or inside your garage to avoid any damage from fireworks. Do not leave your car parked on the street.

Tip #3 - Use fireworks properly

This holiday season is the perfect time to teach children firework safety. Teach children these simple rules: never aim fireworks at people, animals, vehicles, buildings, or any flammable material. Also, adults should always be present when children are around fireworks. Never leave a child unattended with fireworks.

Tip #4 - Keep your pets safe

Make sure that your pets are inside, nowhere near the fireworks. If you are having a BBQ or making food make sure your dog doesn't eat any. Only feed your dog things that are safe.

Tip #5 - Drink safely

When it comes to drinking, make sure you're being safe and are around people that will take care of you. If you are the host at a party, take care of those that have had a big alcohol intake.
